Alexander Yoo, MA, Experienced Therapist
Alexander Yoo, psychotherapist,
entered the field of mental health because he believes in
addressing community and individual issues from a systemic
perspective, one that goes beyond the simplistic
black-and-white of victim-blaming but rather explores all
dimensions at the individual, family system, community,
cultural, and societal level.
As a therapist, Alexander combines a number of different
approaches, techniques, and schools of thought including
psychodynamic, art therapy, guided imagery, postmodern
(solution-focused, narrative), motivational interviewing,
and family systems, but ultimately, the innate wholeness,
worth, and infinite potential of each human being help
shape his overriding guiding principles as a therapist.
Alexander believes wholeheartedly in harm reduction and
inviting people to take any steps they can toward wellness
with whatever resources and skills they possess at whatever
stage of their life journey. He also believes in the
infinite potential, innate beauty, and unfathomable worth
of each and every individual and considers it a personal
honor to help others recognize these in themselves.
He is also active as a board member of a number of
professional and community organizations, a published
academic and creative author and editor, and a lecturer and
development consultant for organizations, businesses, and
professionals in mental health.
